NIMNSA WELCOMES THE WITHDRAWAL OF FOOD PARCEL GUIDELINES
ATT ALL MEDIA HOUSES: NIMNSA WELCOMES THE WITHDRAWAL OF FOOD PARCEL GUIDELINES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RE: Gauteng Social Development Withdraws Guidelines on Food Distribution
NOT IN MY NAME SA welcomes the decision taken by Gauteng Social Development to withdraw guidelines on food distribution which were imposed on NGOs operating under Essential Services Category: CARE SERVICES, SOCIAL RELIEF OF DISTRESSED.
The guidelines were designed to centralise, and slow down, the distribution of food parcels during a national crisis. In addition, they were drenched in redundancy – requiring organisations to go through a mountain of red tape. However, the Acting MEC of Gauteng Social Development, Panyaza Lesufi said that the withdrawal of these guidelines does not prohibit anyone from working with the department on food distribution.
#NOTINMYNAME is encouraged by all organisations, stakeholders, businesses, and individuals from different sectors who stood steadfast in solidarity with us, advocating against the centralisation of people’s goodwill.
We continue to instill a sense of activism in ordinary individuals focused on sustainable positive change and restoring pride and dignity in the lives of our people.
